When is an Authorisation Key needed?
The DNAS server can be run in two modes:
Public - If you want your station to appear in the SHOUTcast Directory listings
Private - If you do not want your station to be listed e.g. an internal company station
If you want the station to be public then you will need an authorisation key, otherwise it is not needed for private stations.
To obtain a unique authentication key you first need to start your SHOUTcast Server and have a source (such as the live streaming software or AutoDJ) correctly connected so the stream is recognised by the DNAS. This can be determined from looking at the DNAS Summary page (to access this page, login to Centova Cast control panel and at "Server" click "Admin" or for FREE SHOUTcast server login to SHOUTcast Control panel and click "SHOUTcast v2 Admin Page") which will show any active stream(s) - if there are none then you will need to re-check the source.
- OK, now you are here and you can see that your stream will act like it is private. It's time to make your stream "Public". Click at "registration"...
- Login as Admin to your SHOUTcast Server Page...
- Click at "Create Authhash"...
- A new page will open. It's the "Sign In Page" from SHOUTcast Directory. Click at "First time here? Create a new account"...
- At this page, fill this form to create your account at SHOUTcast Directory and check your inbox to verify your email address...
- Now you can sign in at SHOUTcast Directory with your newly created account and once you have signed in, if you can't see the page below, click once again "Create Authhash" at your SHOUTcast Server Page (yes this one from a previous step). Now this page is like the two pills from "Matrix" (you know the movie), you must choose between the blue and the green box. The GREEN BOX is the right choice...
- Fill this form as well and submit...
- Your SOUTcast Authhash Key created and you can use it. You will receive it at your inbox as well...
- Copy and paste your Authhash key as you can see at the image below and click "Save"...
- Your stream runs now in public mode and will appear in the SHOUTcast Directory listings.
